Artist’s work desk with Christmas Card plans 2016

Every year Jenny would design a Christmas card to send to friends and family. It was always a tree (a triangle, of course) cut into or out of white card, sometimes pierced to suggest leaves, sometimes with local colour and sometimes decorated so it would catch the light.

Jenny died on November 30th 2016. When we came into her studio for the first time after her death, we saw on her desk that she had begun work on that year’s card. Her diary records that she started work on it just the night before she died. It seems a good time to post it now.

If she had completed it according to the pencil sketch it would have been the only one of all her Christmas cards to have words on it. We cannot know how the tree would have been decorated. This is one of the possibles on her desk.
