Still Life

After 12 years working mostly with paper and wire, Jenny returned to painting with oils on canvas.

In late 2012 she made a study of 9 flowerpots and 2 oil cans, an arrangement in triangles. In 2013 and 2014 she made 9 more studies in oil of flower pots. 5 are of the pots grouped variously, 4 more zoom in on the spaces between the pots, making almost purely abstract studies of triangles and space.

She made just two more paintings: one is a study of 6 objects returning to the muted pastels and the same pots of the earlier paintings. The other shows 9 pots confined into a 3 x 3 grid. It is as if having made them look two and three dimensional in the paper semi reliefs and cut outs she now wanted to show them as flat shapes each confined in their own space.
